Let’s start from the top.
Bear with me for the first few 700 words or so…
Citrawarna is like this big event thingy they have every year it seems, for tourism purposes. This year my school was selected, how lucky are we?
I joined it cuz most of my classmates were. The Form 4s were compulsory to join it, and the other forms except Form 3 were welcomed. We had practices for 5 weeks starting from mid April which were held in the school hall and sometimes, basketball court.
Trainers for the event visited usThe steps were simple but heck, discipline memang teruk. Typical Samadians -.-‘ Kesian Abang Eddie the most wei! Well, at least we made it through… Oh, and we learnt Dikir Barat on the 4th week.
For us Form 5s who participated, we had to take our exams via school level instead cuz they takut soalan bocor to us and all. Imagine spending your Saturday doing Eng, BM and Mod Maths papers.. Ishhhh betul! LOL.
I dunno why, but the formation of the steps kept changing. Believe it or not, we learnt the new formation 2 days before the actual practice with other schools. On Friday they told us we’ve to change it. WhaaaaAaaAt?!? So they told us to stay back on Monday from 12.30 till 6 to learn it. Damnnn.
They needed 160 people, and we were divided into a few parts; dancers and props. For props, these people will have to hold frames, boxes, shopping bags, and all except the ones holding frames have to dance too, but not the complete dance.
We spent 3 days in PWTC, from 8 to 6 AND skipping school in the process.. Wheeeeeeee =D
There were a few themes; Borneo, Beaches, Food, etc. My school’s was Mega Sales. Woot. And double the luck, we were the center school while the schools performing beside us was Catholic High and Taman Medan. Cool eh? Right infront of VVIP.. Get to say high to the Agong! xP
We didn’t have any air-cond during our first 2 days there. Damnnn stuffy there, had to wipe off our sweat every minute. 3rd day it was on tho, why le? Cuz our dear minister of tourism was visiting, so surely got lah!! -.-‘
On the 3rd day, we got our Ts (its pink, mind you) which was multi coloured to indicate what theme you’re in. Of all colours, why pink eh? Size also only got Ms and XLs.. Sadly Mada and I got XL, and had to use pins to make it look fitting. Bob and Szi Wei couldn’t fit into theirs. Pak Ngah (the head of us dancing teams) designed it I think, cuz, well, printed on the right-most top is Pak Ngah production -.-
Fyi: I dunno how many schools were performing, but I think there was 12 or more? Istana Budaya people were there too. Very nice le their dance!
On the day before the event, we had to rehearse in the actual venue, aka Dataran Merdeka. We spent about 5 hours putting on make up and tying our hair in school (boys had to put them on too!). Our teachers did this, cuz we’ve to have standard dos.
Our hairdo is supposed to look sleek and neat, so they used LOTS of gel and pins and hairbands, so guys had their hair in a 70s updo and us girls had it pulled back into plaits or ponytails. I swear, the amount gel used could kill.. Our hair was so stiff, it can act as spikes edi -.-
Took a photo in scouts den... I look so scary =O Ishaq look so....Ishaq? Bazil, Xin You and Tzen Ren look like 80s gentlemen, dunno what to comment about Mada... More girly? xD
When we arrived there, we kinda lepaked for 2 hours, had our dinner at 5.30 before we were called to get our costumes. COSTUMES. WHEEEEEEEEEEE. Everyone was excited to see how’d it look like. I mean, isn’t that the best part? =D
So us girl dancers got them first. Ooooo, it looked ok, ermmm but tights? Not so hot cuz of the colours but heck, it SHOULD look great.
WRongggggggg.
It looked so wronggggg. Seriously…
Imagine a tiger stripped black+purple top that’s triangular cut, big, with orange/red/blue/yellow tights.
There were a few lucky girls who got the zebra stripped top with BELTS which made it look better (tho like a bathrobe) but for us unlucky ones.. Yikes! Plus it was kinda low cut, so we had no choice but to wear our pink T inside and it outside. It looked horrendous..
The others attires were ok tho. Guys one looks nice! But some looked kinda gay abit la. But heck, its better than what we had =( Even Catholic had better version of ours.. Dammit.
Catholics!
We started rehearsing after that, first our Dikir Barat, then dancing. We actually had to dance at 3 venues so yea, gotta parade around. Actually not parade, more like walking and waving from one site to another.
Honestly, I kinda disliked this. Why? Cuz people were thirsty and whenever there was water around they would rush like wild animals and some so selfishly drank many rounds of water without thinking of others. Really… Kinda stupid la seeing this -.-‘
What else… We went back at 12.10. Also had a mini ‘lecture’ from Datin Ng Yen Yen. Hmmm… A car’s tire rolled over Bob’s foot (ouch…). Errr errr.. Oh ya, I got injured. Wanna know the story? Well, if you’re reading this then you have to cuz me gonna type it out nyways x]
So they told us to run cuz we were late to one of the sites. Bad lighting and all, packed with running people… And I fell. Kinda cool cuz I fell, half rolled, got up right away and kept running (takut kena run over by ppl ma). Its also somewhat cool that a girl fell right after I got up and Daniel also fell. All cuz of a piece of wood that was placed to keep multiple wires intact. ****!
Was kinda worried cuz there was a hole in my tights at my right knee. Had to stitch it up. Sigh. At first I thought I wasn’t badly hurt, just a small bruise on my knees and very small wounds on my hands. That was until….
IKAN! There was blood on my tights at my left knee. FISH. My right knee wound was 1cm under the hole, that’s why tak nampak. Argh. Funny tho that the left wound was worst and the lubang was on the right. Hmph. Big wound le… Looked gruesome. Thank God the wounds were balanced, aka wouldn’t affect my kneeling during dance. Phew…
My handphone's 3.2 pixel camera sucks, but i guarantee it was x2 worst than this photo..
Next day, actual event! Oh gosh the adrenaline. We were pumped, and its cuz we were allowed to accessorize, do whatever we want with our hair (no gel!) and ‘fix’ our tops with belts. We were in school since 11.30 doing our make up, yet again, and it ended at 4.20.. Aiks.
Our make up (girls) was more than the day before and it kinda made us look… more like Chow Kit material? Or maybe it only applies to me.. Boys had to wear eyeliner and lipstick and blush O.O Ishaq look so dollish in make up wei, esp with the lipstick! xD Daniel looked the same, foundation and eyeliner didn’t work on him -.-‘
*he's 'black' ma, what to do...anyone got bleach? *
Joking Dan!
Teacher putting on our make up
We went straight to our first dancing venue, which was nearby Sogo. We had our dinner and lepaked on the sidewalks from 5.40 till 8.00. At 8, we grouped up and got into our positions. 8.30 it started..
Poser! xD
Aaaw, they look so pretty! Tharini is beyond recognisation!
Posing before the dance started.
The no on my hand is to count how many participated in Dikir Barat =D
Too bad I lost it in the heat of the moment.. Ciplak! I mean the band holding the no, not me. Lols.
So came our turn to dance. Yeahh, it looked great until…
Damn.
Can’t see our numberings.
Just so you know, we were assigned to numbers so we would be in position at all times. But cuz the crowd was too forward, they covered it up and… Oh crap.
Ahhhhh! Nvm. Have to agak-agak, cuz music started jor.
Shau Yuan, Donovan, Ish.. Look so weird, but their dancing O.o
So first venue… DONE! But we screwed up our positions big time cuz it was too compact. Nvmmm. Next stop; Dataran Merdeka! The important place of all!!
We got there and…. BAM! With smiles plastered on our faces, we danced like we’ve never danced before. LOL. Of course ma, I mean there were cameras there to record our lovely faces on live tv…
Ee Leng, Ishaq was on TV!! Wooooooooooooot! Ishaq’s the best I heard, cuz he got the full screen to himself. Dammmmit. You should’ve seen his face when people told him that -.-
I dunno why we didn’t go to our 3rd venue, but anyways we went back to DM for our Dikir Barat, last performance and to partayyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Well, their version of party is dance to multiple traditional music.. So yea, we danced from 11 to 12. Tired sial but had to dance.
Dikir Barat~ FYI, an estimated 4k people participated (i think...cuz i found no 4***) and we broke the Malaysia book of records in DB. Yay?
Saying bye to the Agong~ Lookie our trainers! Both also wear black caps -.-
*Clueless people*
Tourists were also invited to dance with us, and there was this couple that danced with us the whole time. Damn sporting, and the girl danced really good! Haha! We took photos with tourists also, and of course, many rushed to where the camera was to appear on the big screen infront. A few Samadians were on the stage where artistes were singing too. Damnnnnn funny to see them there x]
Dunno what they doing here la..
Dance dance dance… Photos photos photos. Saw Aaron, Afiq there too. Pn Kokilam also went, and on Monday our HM said she went too via KTM. LOL! Really a? Damn cool wei. Haha!
Istana Budaya people! =) They look so colourful
Jacie! Where's your hot-gay guy??
Ee Leng had to go back early tho, sadly =/
So I was left to party with Bob and all. Very fun tho. Bob with his plant tail, seeing Pn Rema, Pn Usha, Pn Sarala, Pn Premala and En Khairul dance… Really nice =)
Fireworks!
And 2 guys who wanted to take a photo with me (crew members I think? I dunno..) which got me excited yet feeling embarrassed? Yea, long story but heck, that’s cool too xD
LOL! Womaniser~!
LOL wei. Look at Aaron!
Bus trip back to Samad.
